Japanese business delegation meets Thai PM

BANGKOK, August 28 (TNA) - A Japanese business delegation has paid a courtesy call on newly-appointed Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha to discuss business operations in Thailand A deputy of the Thai army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) for economic affairs Air Chief Marshal Prajin Chantong led the Japanese business delegates, including Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of Nidec Corporatiion Shigenobu Nagomori, who is also an honorary advisor to the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI), to meet the prime minister, who is also Thai Army and NCPO Chief, for talks on the new administration's policies and strategies on promoting foreign investments in Thailand. The new Thai leader acknowledged that Bangkok and Tokyo have had long and sound relations in all aspects, including military ties. In response, Shigenobu proposed that Thailand's some regulations concerning foreign investment be revised to facilitate and cushion investment atmosphere, along with addressing the shortage of workers, covering issuing employment permits to foreign personnel. Nidec Corporation is a Japanese major producer of electronic parts with its large base of production in Thailand, comprising nine subsidiaries with their total investment of more than 30 billion baht and over 20,000 employees.
