S Korean Military Cadets Visit Magelang 's Military Academy

Magelang, C Java, Sept 29 (Antara) - The alumni and cadets of the South Korean Military Academy, led by Major Kim Hansang, visited the Indonesian Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java, on Monday. Governor of the Military Academy of Magelang Major General Sumardi remarked here on Monday that the annual visit was intended to boost cooperation, especially military ties, between the two military academies and the two countries. Addressing the South Korean envoys, Sumardi spoke at length about the key tasks and education systems of the Military Academy of Magelang. He also hoped that the South Korean cadets and alumni may share and gain knowledge and information about the educational system during their visit to Indonesia. On the occasion, the governor also shed light on Yongmoodo, a South Korean martial art form, which has been taught to the Indonesian military cadets in the academy. "Yongmoodo has been chosen as a martial art form for the military and a mandatory requirement for promotion or grade advancement for every soldier and military academy cadets," Sumardi noted. During the five-day visit from September 28 to October 2, 2014, the cadets and alumni will take part in some programs, such as studying and training and a field trip to various educational facilities of the Military Academy of Magelang. They will also pay a visit to Mount Tidar, a small hill in the vicinity of Magelang, and to some tourism destinations in Magelang and Yogyakarta Special Region such as the Ketep Pass, Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, Sultan`s Palace of Yogyakarta, and Malioboro shopping center.
