U.A.E. Parliamentary Division stresses need for agreement on clear international counter-terrorism strategy

GENEVA: Sultan Saif Al Samahi, Federal National Council member and member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) group, has stressed the need for agreeing on clear international counter-terrorism plan through an international partnership to implement the United Nations Security Council resolutions number 267, 1, 373, 1, 526, 1, 540 and 1, 566, being strong resolutions on combating terrorism. Al Samahi made the remark during the first permanent committee meeting "International Security and Peace Committee" of the IPU, on the role of parliaments in finding balance in regard to national and humanitarian security, individual freedoms and democracy. The meetings are held at the International Conference Centre in Geneva. He added that the U.A.E. fights terrorism and has enacted deterrent laws, including counter-terrorism law and cybercrime law, stressing that the national security surpasses geography and faces challenges of technology, telecommunications, trans-border crimes, cybercrime and terrorism.
