AZERBAIJANI MP DELIVERS SPEECH AT STATE DUMA
Baku, 10 December,(AzerTAj) - Milli Majlis member Gular Ahmadova spoke at a parliamentary hearing “Evolution of women`s rights” held in the State Duma of Russia to mark the 100th anniversary of the first All-Russia women`s congress.
Azerbaijani MP was invited by speaker of Duma Boris Gryzlov.
She gave insight into the President Ilham Aliyev-led actions of the government to
protect rights of women and children. Ahmadova noted the State Committee on family,
women and children problems was established by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev.
G. Ahmadova told of the Azerbaijan-Russia ties, situation of Russian language in
Azerbaijan, prospects for interstate relations. Azerbaijani parliamentarian also
dwelt on the problems of women and children, which became refugees as the result of
the Armenian aggression. She provided information about Heydar Aliyev Foundation and
UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP, Mehriban Aliyeva`s efforts to protect
rights of women and children.
Ahmadov also briefed the participants on the Baku international forum on expanding
women`s role in cross-cultural dialogue.
