Jakarta, Dec 11 (ANTARA) - Japanese officials have expressed their readiness to help Indonesia face the global financial crisis, according to Ginanjar Kartasasmita, chief patron of the Indonesia-Japan Friendship Association (PPIJ).

"Japanese officials whom I met have said they are ready to help Indonesia overcome the impact of the global financial crisis," Ginanjar said in a short text message to Antara from Japan on Thursday.

Ginanjar said he and academics from various universities and research institutes in Japan had discussed various concepts and ways to overcome the crisis and to prevent it from happening again in the future.

He is currently in Japan to attend the closing of activities related to the golden anniversary of diplomatic and friendship relations between Indonesia and Japan.

During his visit in Japan, Ginanjar would also meet with Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso, Finance Minister Shoichi Natagawa, Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone, a number of politicians and academics to discuss various issues related to the global economic crisis.

As was agreed at the G-20 summit in Washington DC and APEC summit in Peru, the global economic crisis should be overcome through right and smart policies by each country and through international cooperation.

Commenting on the golden anniversary of RI-Japan diplomatic and friendship relations, Ginanjar said the commemoration this year was started in Indonesia on January 20, 2008 at the Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park (TMII) which was attended by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Japanese Prince Akishino.
