Health Ministry, W.H.O cooperate for Pilgrims Health Safety

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, December 11, SPA -- The Health Ministry has
collaborated with the World Health Organization (W.H.O) for pilgrims'
health safety during this year's Hajj.

Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammed Mirghalani, the official spokesman of the
Health Ministry said there is close cooperation and full coordination
between the Ministry of Health and various international health
organizations, particularly the W.H.O since the beginning of this
year to follow up the latest developments in the global map of
diseases.

Dr. Mirghalani added that cooperation between the Ministry and the
W.H.O in preventing pilgrims from prospective epidemic diseases is
considered a distinct feature, especially through its regional office
in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.

The spokesman of the Health Ministry said its cooperation with W.H.O
is carried out through varied means including W.H.O's provision of
information and global updates on infectious diseases to the
Ministry.


He said that W.H.O provides the Health Ministry with updates on
emergence of epidemics in various countries of the world from which
pilgrims come to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, adding that the world
body also provide periodic W.H.O publications and engage with the
Ministry in consultations needed to deal with any emerging epidemic
cases that may occur in countries of pilgrims' origin.


Dr. Mirghalani affirmed that the Ministry of Health is benefiting
from the information provided by the W.H.O and other international
health bodies and health authorities in countries from which pilgrims
come, in formulating and deciding on health and vaccination
requirements that are made obligatory for pilgrims before their
arrival in the Kingdom for Hajj.

He noted that such requirements have proved their effectiveness in
combating infectious diseases - thanks to Allah Almighty and thanks
to the cooperation of the Saudi embassies and missions all over the
world and the health authorities in all countries from which pilgrims
come.
