PRESIDENT TO LEAD ALATAS' BURIAL CEREMONY

Jakarta, Dec 11 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to lead the ceremony marking the burial of former foreign minister Ali Alatas at the Kalibata Heroes' Cemetery on Friday.
"The burial ceremony will be conducted at the Kalibata Heroes' Cemetery at 9.am on Friday," director for protection of Indonesian citizens Teguh Wardoyo told ANTARA on Thursday.
He said the body of the late senior diplomat would be flown from Singapore on Thursday evening aboard a Garuda Indonesia airplane which was expected to arrive at Soekarno-Hatta airport at 6.30 pm.
The coffin will be officially welcomed by Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda at Soekarno-Hatta's VIP room before being taken to the mourning house in Jl Benda Raya No.19, Kemang Selatan, in South Jakarta.
At the mourning house, the body will be welcomed by Deputy Foreign Minister Triyono Wibowo.
During the flight from Singapore, the former foreign minister's mortal remains would be accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Wardana.
It was reported that President Yudhoyono and visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi were scheduled to pay their last tribute at the mourning house.
Alatas who was foreign minister for four terms (1988-1999) died at Singapore's Mount Elizabeth hospital at 7.30 am on Thursday.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Ali Alatas fell ill on November 20, 2008 and admitted to the Medistra hospital. He was flown to Singapore on November 24, 2008 for a medical treatment at Mount Elizabeth hospital.
Alatas was appointed an envoy of the United Nations Secretary General in 2005 for promoting a comprehensive agenda put forward in the report "In larger Freedom: Towards Development, Security and Human Rights for All."
He served as a member of the United Nations High Level Group on Alliance of Civilizations 2005-2006, and was a member of the Eminent Persons Group on the ASEAN Charter between 2005 and 2007.
He had been an adviser and a special envoy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia since 2003.***5***
