IMPLEMENTATION OF JOINT COMMISSION AGREEMENT IMPORTANT: AMBASSADOR
London, Dec 11 (ANTARA) - Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Hamid Awaludin said with the completion of the Indonesia-Russia Joint Commission Session, the agreement needed to be implemented.
"The achievement of the Joint Commission Session is the implementation, not the program making," Awaludin said, adding that the joint commission is a disrupted channel of the problems.
The joint commission in Moscow is the fifth, and there are many prospects of activities on the bilateral relations, he said.
"Now we have the capital to move forward and not stagnant," said Awaludin.
Some of the constraints solved in the joint sessions are trade, tourism and transportation.
"All of them are interconnected," he said.
With the target of direct flight from Russia to Indonesia, more tourists would come to Indonesia, and the other way around.
Meanwhile, trade which has reached 1 billion USD also can be increased through both countries' Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the upcoming Business Council.
It is expected that Russia can buy more Indonesian products and invest in Indonesia and the direct flights do not only carry passengers, but cargo as well.
Spectacular
"The most spectacular agreement reached is about cultural cooperation in the form of commemoration of 60 years diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Russia," Awaludin said.
The joint commission agreed on the big commemoration in the form of cultural exhibitions in big cities in both in Indonesia and Russia.
"This is very important to increase people-to-people contacts. The impact of such event will benefit both countries," he said.
At the practical level, both countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in banking and tourism.
"As long as everyone is consistent, Russian tourists to Indonesia can be increased significantly," said Awaludin.
It is mentioned in the protocol that there will be a joint promotion of tourism, Russian language training for Indonesian tourist guides and Russia's media visiting Indonesia's tourism sites.
"The Russian government will also encourage citizens to visit 10 tourism sites besides Bali," he said.
For that reason, the Indonesian Embassy and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism agreed to invite and facilitate Russia's tourism operators to Indonesia in the beginning of next year.
"The investment cooperation will also be encouraged even though investment is considered risky," he said, while urging Russia to implement its plan to invest in technology, energy, oil and gas, communications and agriculture soon.
There will be routine meetings between Indonesian and Russian businessmen, said Awaludin, because investment does not come easily.
"The Indonesian embassy tries its best to watch the 62 points of agreement so it can be implemented maximally," said Awaludin.
