PERTAMINA CONSIDERING FORTNIGHTLY REVIEWS OF AVTUR PRICE

Jakarta, Dec 12 (ANTARA) - State oil company PT Pertamina is looking into the possibility of reviewing the aircraft fuel (avtur) price fortnightly, following domestic airlines' and the transportation ministry's objections to monthly reviews.

"We do not object to reviewing the avtur price fortnightly if the airline companies reject monthly reviews," PT Pertamina spokesman Anang Noor Nurphynya said here on Friday.

Transportation Minister Jusman Syafii Djamal said previously there was a possibility the price of avtur for domestic airline companies would be reviewed on a fortnightly basis.

"I received a report this morning from the Indonesia National Air Carriers Association/INACA. It seems that there is an agreement to set the avtur price twice a month. This means that Pertamina is responding to the Transportation Ministry's and INACA's requests," Djamal said.

Norphynya said that so far the price had been set based on the US dollar's exchange rate and the Mid Oil Platts Singapore (MOPS) reference price.

"We have been transparent in fixing avtur prices. The airlines should have not questioned our transparency in setting the aircraft fuel price because every thing is already clear," he said.

Asked when the new scheme is to be implemented, he said that Pertamina was now studying the matter.

"Pertamina will announce it officially in the near future," he added.

Records available at Pertamina indicated that the avtur price at the refilling stations at Soekarno-Hatta airport had been cut periodically each month.

On September 1, 2008, for example, Pertimana cut avtur prices by about 15 percent at all Pertamina refilling stations.

With the inclusion of the value added tax (PPN), the price of avtur in October 2008 at Soekarno-Hatta airport was set at Rp9,042 per liter and in November it dropped further to Rp7,623 per liter.

On December 1, 2008, the avtur price plus PPN was recorded at Rp7,282 per liter.
