Suspicious package resembling explosive device found in Turkey's Istanbul

Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan.7 By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend: A suspicious package resembling an explosive device has been found on the Okmeydani Square in Turkey’s Istanbul city, Turkish Hurriyet newspaper reported on Jan.7. Special sapper units have already arrived at the scene. A female suicide bomber carried out an attack on Istanbul tourism police located in the historic Sultanahmet district on Jan.6. The suicide bomber powered the bomb near the entrance and lost her life on the spot. As it turned out, the female suicide bomber, Elif Sultan Kalsen, born in Turkey’s Tunceli province, was residing in the country’s Kocaeli province. She was a student of the International Relations Department at the University of Kocaeli. Elif Sultan Kalsen was included in the list of nine “live bombs” published by the main law enforcement agency of Turkey in 2012. Right after the publication of the list, Kalsen denied she was a “live bomb” and that time the oppositional Republican People's Party of Turkey supported her. Follow us on Twitter @TRENDNewsAgency
