Hashish trafficking attempt across southern border foiled

Najran, Saudi Arabia, December 12, SPA -- Border guard patrols at
Almofja post in Najran Region have foiled an attempt by a group of
walking traffickers to smuggle a quantity of hashish after fire
exchange across a tough mountainous area, it was reported here today.

Commander of Border Guard of Najran Region Major General Mohammed bin
Abdulrahman Alzahrani said a patrol on duty at a mountainous area
detected a group of people trying to cross the border by hiding
behind the rocks. Realizing that they had been detected, they fired
at the patrol which exchanged fire. The smugglers fled the scene,
leaving 26 kilograms of hashish behind them.
