As the US$14 billion US auto bailout request collapsed Thursday, Indonesian owners of cars produced at General Motors (GM), Ford and Chrysler factories here began to worry about the after-sales services for their vehicles.

US AUTOMOTIVE BAILOUT REQUEST TURNED DOWN

The US Senate turned down a proposal on a bailout package amounting US$14 billion or Rp152 trillion on Thursday evening. The bailout request was aimed at rescuing three major US automotive companies from bankruptcy.

IMPORT REGULATIONS POSTPONED

The government has postponed regulations on garment, shoes, electronic, toy, food and beverage importation, earlier planned to be effective per December 15, 2008. The regulation expected to protect the domestic market and industry from the import flocks, will be effective February 1, 2009.
