PRESIDENT ON WORKING VISITS IN WEST, SOUTH SUMATRA
Padang, Dec 13 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his entourage arrived here on Saturday for a two-day working visit to West Sumatra and South Sumatra until Sunday.
On arrival at Minangkabau International Airport in Padang Pariaman at 8:50 am the president was greeted by West Sumatra Governor Gamawan Fauzi.
From the airport, the President was driven to Dharmasraya district to attend a grand harvest and launch a program to grow a high-yielding paddy variety at Bukit Mindawa village, Pulau Punjung sub-district in Dharmasraya.
The president was also scheduled to dedicate several agriculture infrastructure projects such as the Batang Hari dam and drinking water facilities at Nagari Sijunjung and Sumpalan.
Later in the afternoon, the president and his entourage would return to the provincial capital of Padang to attend a thanksgiving function in connection with the bestowal of National Hero status to M Natsir, a deceased former national figure who was born in the region.
The thanksgiving function would be held at PT Semen Padang's Serba Guna building at 9:30 p.m., and on the occasion President Yudhoyono would also watch a documentary film on M Natsir's activities during his lifetime.
The next morning , on Sunday, President Yudhoyono and his entourage would leave West Sumatra for South Sumatra to inaugurate a number of infrastructure projects in the province, namely the Simplang Polda flyover in Palembang, Terusan Teluk-II bridge in Musi ditrict, Bio-diesel plant in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur district, Sriwijaya University apartment building in Palembang, a drinking water distribution system in Martapura town.
President Yudhoyono would leave Palembang at 11:30 am on Sunday morning and be back in Jakarta at 1:15 pm in the afternoon.
