PMT Shinko Turbine Uveils Locally Assembled Steam Turbine

SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), Feb 6 (Bernama) -- PMT Shinko Turbine Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Wah Seong Corporation Bhd and Japan's Shinkokinzoku Industries Corp Ltd, Friday launched a locally-assembled 1,200Kw steam turbine. Wah Seong Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Chan Cheu Leong said the Shinko RB4 turbine was fully assembled at the Bukit Kemuning plant of its wholly-owned subsidiary PMT Industries Sdn Bhd. "The strategic collaboration and technology transfer will help meet the growing demand for products such as steam turbines, boilers and palm kernel cracking machines for the local and international market, and promote the turbines in the renewable energy sector," he said. He was speaking to reporters at the launch of the turbine here Friday attended by Shinkokinzoku Industries President Kanji Tsutsui. Chan said the turbine's local launch is part of the group's long-term strategy to become the first company in the country to produce and assemble steam turbines. The company targets to assemble between 10 to 15 steam turbines this year, followed by five units a month next year, he added. -- BERNAMA
