BEI INDEX OPENS SLIGHTLY HIGHER EARLY MONDAY
Jakarta, Dec. 15 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) opened 1.76 percent higher in the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) on Tuesday morning.
The IHSG was up 22.260 points or 1.76 percent to 1,285.228, and the LQ45 index strengthened 10.004 points or 4.02 percent to 259.109.
Strengthening shares still dominated the market with 48 shares that managed to advance, 10 that remained static, and 399 that were not actively traded.
Among shares which advanced in the BEI were Bumi Resources shares which were up by Rp90 to Rp990, State Gas Company which went up by Rp225 to Rp2,225, Astra International which rose Rp850 to Rp10,550, Telkom which surged Rp150 to Rp6,750, Bukit Asam Coal Mine, which advanced Rp550 to Rp7,350, and the United Tractors which went up Rp325 to Rp4,800.
The government's decision to lower fuel prices triggered positive sentiment in the stock market in BEI.
PT Danareksa Securities in its daily research analysis said the positive sentiments in the regional bourses also affected the BEI index.
"However, we estimate that the index on Monday will weaken following the trend in the regional bourses," the research analysis said.
In the regional bourses, Hang Seng index in the Hong Kong bourse strengthened 3.86 percent or 559.71 points to 15,316.94, and Straits Times in the Singapore bourse went up 2.33 percent or 40.470 points to 1,780.81.
