USFK expresses condolences to Korean victim of San Diego jet crash
SEOUL, Dec. 16 (Yonhap) -- The commander of U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) expressed condolences on Tuesday to a Korean-American man who lost his wife, children and mother-in-law in a U.S. marine jet crash in California last week.
Maj. Gen. Frank A. Panter of the U.S. Marine Corps took a trip Tuesday to
Damyang, some 350 kilometers southwest of Seoul, where visitations were held for
the man's South Korean mother-in-law, the South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces
Command (CFC) said.
He gave words of consolation to the family on behalf of the USFK commander, who
concurrently heads the CFC.
The Korean-American, identified as Yoon Dong-yoon, lost his wife and both of his
two children last Monday when an F/A-18 Hornet jet crashed into his San Diego
home, also killing his mother-in-law who was visiting from South Korea to help
take care of her daughter's two-month-old baby.
The funeral for Yoon's mother-in-law, Kim Seok-im, is scheduled to be held on
Wednesday, the CFC said.
