LEMHANAS, M`SIA`S UNIVERSITY KEBANGSAAN TO COOPERATE IN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Jakarta, Dec 16 (ANTARA) - The National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas) and the University of Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) have agreed to increase cooperation in the field of leadership development.
The agreement was contained in a memorandum of understanding signed by Lemhanas Governor Muladi and UKM Vice Rector Prof Dato Dr Sharifah Hapsah Syed Hasan Shahabudin here on Tuesday.
Muladi on the occasion said the agreement could be a start for the strengthening of relations between institutions in Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) member countries with regard to building capable leadership to meet various global challenges.
"This is in line with the principles of the Asean Charter which among other things emphasize the importance of developing capable human resources and also leaders to strengthen the Asean community," he said.
Muladi said Lemhanas had created a lot of capable leaders to make Indonesia better not only at national and regional but also global level through reform and revitalization efforts.
Also important for creating capable leadership was acquistion of technology, Muladi said, particularly communication technology and therefore the two institutions needed to cooperate.
UKM Vice Rector Sharifah Hapsah meanwhile said Lemhanas was a reliable partner in the development of principles of leadership.
"It is not only that. The cooperation is also in line with the Asean's goal to create a strong Asean community according to the Asean Charter that has been agreed upon," he said.
Sharifah said the cooperation between Lemhanas and UKM was a start for a wider cooperation between the two institutions particularly in the leadership program.
"It is hoped through exchange of ideas, information and other things relating to leadership program the cooperation between the two institutions will work well and benefit both parties," Sharifah said.
