ERC, Philippines Red Cross sign MOU on a number of projects to benefit those affected by Typhoon Haiyan

MANILA, 11th March, 2015 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, and the Philippines Red Cross have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, on the opening of a number of projects for the benefit of those affected by Typhoon Haiyan that swept through large areas of the Philippines towards the end of last year. Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, ERC's Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Richard Gordon, Chairman and CEO of the Philippine Red Cross, signed the Memorandum of Understanding during a visit by the authority delegation to the Philippines The MoU is governing the relationship of both sides through the exchange of skills and assistance in projects and other types of mutual cooperation, especially projects related to health and education. Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei reaffirmed the importance of signing the MoU with the Philippines as it is one of the countries that faced many challenges related to the hurricane. Richard Gordon said that the Emirates Red Crescent relief programme on humanitarian aid, which is worth US$10 million to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, is a generous initiative, praising the strength of cooperation and friendship between the two countries and the blending of cultures, strengthening the bonds of future cooperation. – Emirates News Agency, WAM – http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395277735804.html
