Abdullah bin Zayed, Mauritanian Foreign Minister discuss stronger bilateral relations

ABU DHABI, 24th March, 2015 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, has received Fatma Vall Mint Soueinae, Mauritania's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, who is visiting the UAE.
During the meeting which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the two parties discussed the fraternal relations between the two countries and a number of matters of mutual concern.
After H.H. Sheikh Abdullah welcomed the Mauritanian foreign minister and members of her delegation, they discussed ways of supporting and developing the fraternal relations between the UAE and Mauritania in all spheres to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries as part of the interest of their leaderships in consolidating these relations and taking them to wider avenues.
The two parties also exchanged views on a number of matters of mutual concern.
Major General Faris Al Mazrouei, Assistant Foreign Minister for Security and Military Affairs, attended the meeting.
On 21 January, Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, signed a contract with Mauritania’s Ministry of Petroleum, Energy, and Mines, to deliver seven solar photovoltaic projects.
The projects with a total capacity of 12 megawatts will provide access to clean and reliable energy to seven towns across the African country, Masdar said in a statement.
The projects, which are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2016, will likely displace six million litres of diesel fuel annually and 16,134 tonnes of CO2 each year.
The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation provided the Mauritanian Ministry of Water, Resources and Sanitation with an advanced well drilling machinery to help meet the population's demand for drinking water.
The drilling machines which can bore holes to a depth of between 600-700 metres will help the Mauritanian government in providing drinking water in different regions.
The UAE humanitarian agencies, including Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works, are conducting intensified operations in Mauritania to combat poverty, sponsor and provide shelter for orphans, help the underprivileged, drill water wells, build dams and mosques and help students. In addition, there are individual initiatives launched by Emirati philanthropists to help Mauritanians. – Emirates News Agency, WAM –
