PRESIDENT: FINANCIAL CRISIS STILL MANAGEABLE

Magelan, C Java, Dec 17 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said on Wednesday that up until this moment the impact of the global financial crisis is still manageable in this country.

"However, I call on every state component to be more solid and work harder to manage the economy to the best of their ability," the president said here.

"So far, we still can handle the situation. However, I need to remind you all that the global financial crisis is not over yet. Thus,we need to work harder to manage the economy," he added.

To accelerate efforts in coping with the impact of the global financial crisis on the economy and life of the people, it is important to maintain the economic growth rate, said the President.

"The actions which need to be taken include coping with unemployment, preserve the real sector's activities, and protect and help low-paid people," President Yudhoyono said.

The President also asked all the Indonesian people to really understand the current domestic situation as the result of the global financial crisis.

Another important thing to maintaining e national stability and security, which is closely linked to political stability.
