RI'S YUSRIL, MALAYSIA'S ANWAR MEET IN KUALA LUMPUR

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 17 (ANTARA)- Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Indonesia's former Minister/State Secretary and one of the country's presidential candidates, met with Malaysia's opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in parliament building here on Wednesday.

"This is a reciprocal visit after Anwar Ibrahim met with Yusril in his recent visit to Jakarta," Ali Mochtar Ngabalin, member of House of Representatives (DPR)'s commission I, overseeing foreign, defense and information affairs said here on Thursday.

Ali Mochtar Ngabalin is a member of DPR's PBB faction.

According to Ali who accompanied Yusril in the visit, Yusril in the meeting talked a lot on the basic matter of establishing the constitutional court and judicial commission, and the bodies' role in supporting the legal state of Indonesia.

"His participation in setting up (the constitutional court and the judicial commission), enabling Yusril to explain about the two state bodies to Malaysian parliamentarians," Ali said.

Yusril, who is a professor in the school of law of the Jakarta-based University of Indonesia, was former chairman of Islamic-based PBB (the Crescent and Star Party).

"Being a presidential hopeful of PBB, Yusril feels necessary to strengthen friendly relations with Anwar because they were once students of Mohamad Natsir, Indonesian noted figure of former Masyumi party," Ali cited.

In addition to his meeting with the Malaysian opposition leader, Yusril, who is also one of the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)'s alumni in Pulau Pinang, delivered a general speech before students in the USM campus.
