UAE partakes in Arab League's efforts to regulate human organ transplant, combat illegal organ trade

CAIRO, 6th April, 2015 (WAM) --- The UAE is participating in the preparation of a draft pan-Arab convention on human organ transplant regulation and combating illegal human organ trade. A UAE delegation of experts representing the justice and interior ministries and healthcare departments is taking part in a three-day meeting of Arab League's joint committee of judicial experts and representatives of Arab justice and interior ministries. The meeting is being presided over by Saudi Arabia and is taking place at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo. Representatives of the health and Islamic affairs ministries of Arab countries will provide the committee with medical and Sharia opinion on human organ transplant. The final draft convention will be submitted to the specialised Arab League councils of Arab interior, justice and health ministries. The UAE delegation to Cairo meeting includes Ali Abdulkarim Al Obaidli, Group Chief Clinical Officer at Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA); Captain Ahmed Al Zoyodi from the Interior Ministry's Legal Affairs Department; Abdullah Hassan Al Marzouqi, Assistant Counsellor at the Justice Ministry's Department of International Cooperation; and Ali Al Shamili, Director of Arab League Affairs at the UAE Embassy in Cairo. – Emirates News Agency, WAM – http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395278927821.html
