Envoys of friendly countries discuss cooperation with UAE Space Agency

ABU DHABI, 6th April 2015 (WAM) --- Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, Mohammed Nasser Al Ahbabi, and Chairman of the UAE Space Agency Board of Directors, Khalifa Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, have discussed aspects of academic and scientific cooperation with envoys and representatives of three countries with advanced space technology programs.
The discussions took place during recent visits to the UAE Space Agency, by UK Ambassador, Philip Parham, Russian Ambassador, Alexander Efimov, and a Kazakh delegation headed by Talgat Musabayev, Space and Civil aviation Advisor to the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and Head of the National Space Agency of Kazakhstan, who was accompanied by Khairat Lama Sharif, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the UAE.
During their visits, the foreign envoys voiced their countries' full support to the UAE space industry after Al Rumaithi briefed them on the details of the agency's planned Mars probe project and its role in creating a scientific research database in the UAE.
The ambassadors also congratulated the UAE and its wise leadership on the establishment of the national space agency, plans to send a mission to Mars and on joining the ranks of advanced spacefaring nations.
Established in July 2014, the UAE Space Agency put a strategy in place to develop partnerships with other countries in space exploration to contribute to the international space industry.
The UAE Space Agency's missions include the development of a solid foundation for a sustainable space sector that will be one of the primary engines of the UAE’s economy and will contribute towards preparing scientists and engineers for the development of a diverse, knowledge-based economy. – Emirates News Agency, WAM –
