New breakthrough project
Almaty, 18 December 2008, (Khabar) - “Kazakhtelecom” JSC, national operator of communication develops wireless telephone communication on the basis of CDMA 450 standard in Almaty region. The breakthrough project will reduce the problem of digital inequality among rural and city residents. Problem of installation of telephones was always acute in Tuimebayev settlement. People waited for a long time to get telephone at home. And now the management of “Kazakhtelecom” says a man will be able to have telephone on the same day of writing application. A special digital radio terminal will be set up and the tariff is as usual one.
Kuanyshbek Yesekeyev, head of Agency of RK on informatization and communication:
- The government elaborates system of rural communication. This year the implementation of rural communication on the basis of CDMA was begun. And we are launching it in several regions, in particular in Almaty region. This allows to install telephones quickly in villages.
The principle of work of CDMA 450 technology reminds cellular communication but radio modem is used at home instead of mobile telephone. Zone of covering of one station is 35-40 km. one station can render services to about 1 000 subscribers. Zheksembai Meirembayev, head of regional department of telecommunications said 13 550 subscribers have CDMA 450 network already.
Askar Zhumagaliyev, chairman of board of directors of “Kazakhtelecom” JSC:
- This project is a breakthrough one, the President instructed and supported it saying we should install telephones and Internet in villages. About 15 000 subscribers have already connected to this type of service. 25 000 more people will join it before the end of the next year.
The project supposes development of 117 base stations on the territory of republic the next year. 900 stations will work by 2013 and due to this almost all the villagers will be able to have telephones at home.
