Unimap Lecturer Among 50 UAV Experts IN Asia

KANGAR (Perlis, Malaysia) April 8 (Bernama) -- University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) lecturer Associate Professor Dr Hazry Desa is among 50 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) experts in Asia. Dr Hazry, who is UniMAP Unmanned Aerial System (AES) Centre head, said research on this type of aircraft was carried out with the cooperation of Drei Sohne Technology Sdn Bhd for spraying pesticide on padi crops in Perlis. "The recognition proves that Malaysians are also capable of mastering high technology," he said when contacted on Tuesday. He said the recognition was also for all the staff at UniMAP especially Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin who was unstinting in his support in the research on UAVs. Recently, UniMAP launched UAV KAMA-2X and sold 10 units of the aircraft worth RM500,000 (about US$135,135) to Aerial Imaging Sdn Bhd at the recent Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition. Dr Hazry said he also been given the honour to deliver a keynote address at the 'The Commercial UAV Show Asia 2015' scheduled to take place at the SUNTEC Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre on June 30. -- BERNAMA
