Saudi Qatari Coordination Council issued joint communiqué
Riyadh, December 17, SPA -- Guided by the instructions of the
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud
and Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, the Saudi
Qatari Coordination Council which was initialed in Riyadh on July 5,
2008, held its first ever meeting in Riyadh from 14-17 December 2008
at an invitation of Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy
Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, Head
of the Saudi side, and issued a joint communiqué, calling further
consolidation of bilateral relations through the ratification of six
agreements.
Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Interior, led Saudi
Arabia's delegation to the council's meeting while Sheikh Tamim bin
Hamad Al Thani, Heir Apparent of Qatar, led his country's side to the
meeting. Relevant ministers from the two sides took part in the
meeting.
They reviewed the situation in the region as well as regional and
international developments of mutual concern, showing identical view
points and calling for the intensification of coordination,
consultation and joint action to reach targeted goals for the
interests of the peoples of the two neighboring GCC countries.
