UAE READY TO INCREASE INVESTMENT IN RI
Jakarta, Dec 18 (ANTARA) - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is ready to raise investment in Indonesia for which it is waiting for offers from the latter on which sectors it can develop further, its envoy said.
"UAE has investment almost in all sectors. We are waiting for offers from both the Indonesian government and the private sector on which sectors we can invest in," UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Yousif R. Alsharhan said at a meeting with the president director of ANTARA news agency, Ahmad Mukhlis Yusuf, here on Thursday.
Indonesia could take part in development project exhibitions held by UAE every year to promote its investment potentials, Yousif said.
He said UAE had so far invested in a number of projects in Indonesia, such as the development of tourism facilities including a five-star hotel in Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, and the expansion of Tanjung Perak port in Surabaya, East Java.
"We are also negotiating with Indonesia on our plan to get involved in the development of a Sentul integrated city," he said.
On the occasion, the UAE ambassador also expressed hope that the UAE news agency WAM could cooperate with ANTARA, particularly in the exchange of news stories and visits by their journalists and officials.
In addition, WAM is also cooperating with members of the Organization of Asia Pacific News Agencies (OANA) of which ANTARA is chairman.
The ambassador said he wanted WAM to establish close cooperation with ANTARA which disseminates not only national news but also regional and international ones.
He expressed his belief that the cooperation between the two news agencies, if realized, would lead to the production of stories beneficial to the interests of both governments and peoples.
"Even though I myself am not a pressman I like this field. That's why I want to see the cooperation between WAM and ANTARA developing well."
Meanwhile, ANTARA President Director Ahmad Mukhlis Yusuf hailed Yousif's offer, saying he would give priority to WAM besides other OANA members in developing bilateral cooperation.
He said he would review and follow up on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two news agencies about three years ago.
