DEPUTY CHINESE PM'S VISIT EXPECTED TO IMPROVE RI-CHINA TIES
Jakarta, Dec 18 (ANTARA) - Deputy Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang's visit to Indonesia on Saturday is expected to improve bilateral relations between the two countries, an official said.
"This is a strategic visit as he is one of the ten top on the list of the Chinese politburo standing committee. He also takes great responsibility in economic cooperation," Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said here Friday.
"We appreciate very much his visit to Indonesia after we saw his portfolio as a Southeast Asian partner and we are expecting good results," he said during the ministry's weekly press briefing.
Teuku explained that both governments had set the target of their two-way trade for 2010 at US$30 million, but in 2008 the figure had already reached US$28 million. "There's not much to pursue anymore. Hopefully, this cooperation would be promising especially in the current free trade."
