OIC Chief calls for de-linking Islam and terrorism
Geneva, Dec 20, SPA -- Secretary General of the Organization of
Islamic Conference (OIC) Professor Ekmel-Eddin Ihsanoglu has called
for avoiding linking Islam with terrorism.
Speaking after the issuance of the resolution of the UN General
Assembly which condemns insulting religions for the fourth
consecutive year, Ihsanoglu said the OIC is committed to respecting
expression of freedom.
Ihsanoglu, who was speaking at a meeting organized by the OIC at the
Geneva-based UN, said that there is an increasing wave for religious
hatred, discrimination and fanaticism against the Muslims.
"We should stop the endeavors which try to associate Islam with
terrorism, and to project the Muslims as evil people, " he added.
