Indonesia Records Trade Surplus Of Us$454.4 Million In April
Jakarta, May 15 (Antara) - Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of US$454.4 million in April 2015, with exports reaching US$13.08 billion and imports standing at US$12.63 billion, according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
"The balance of trade recorded a surplus of US$454.4 million, fueled by a surplus of US$1.33 billion from the non-oil/non-gas sector although the oil/gas sector suffered a deficit of US$0.88 billion," BPS Deputy Chief for Distribution and Service Statistics Sasmito Hadi Wibowo stated during a press conference here on Friday.
Cumulatively, the country's trade surplus reached US$2.77 billion in the January-April 2015 period, with exports recorded at US$52.14 billion and imports at US$49.36 billion.
"In the January-April 2014 period, the surplus was US$2.77 billion or close to US$3 billion. Hopefully, it will increase," he noted.
Indonesia still suffered a deficit in its trade with several key partners, including China at US$5.4 billion, Thailand at US$1.12 billion, and Japan at US$583 million.
"If our exports to main trade partners increase, it (trade surplus) will be better," he pointed out.
Wibowo remarked that the exports in April 2015 reached US$13.08 billion, a 4.04 percent decline as compared to US$13.63 billion recorded in the previous month.
Imports rose 0.16 percent to US$12.63 billion in April 2014 from US$12.60 billion a month earlier.
