YUSUF KALLA NEVER BELIEVES IN OPINION POLL RESULTS
Banjarmasin, S. Korea, Dec 20 (ANTARA) - Golkar Party leader Yusuf Kalla said he never believed the results of public opinion polls conducted by survey institutes as they were often determined by a relationship between the serveyor and some politial parties.
"I never believe in the results of surveys because they usually favor the party with which the surveyor has a relationship," he said before hundreds of party cadres attending a South Kalimantan regional Golkar working conference here on Saturday.
Citing an example, Kalla said some time ago the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) announced the results of a poll putting Golker in third place (11 percnt) in terms of popularity after the the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDI-P) (30 percent) and the Democrats Party (16 percent).
"If it is the case, why don't we say the results is 50 percent. Then, he general elections are virtually completed," he said.
According to Kalla, the most important in the legislative general election is close approach of the cadres to the community.
"Therefore, Kalla asked all his party's cadres to work hard and to have no objection to meet the community and to help overcome their difficulty," he said.
"It is impossible that by promoting the party in the form of advertisement for two or three weeks, the people will change their choices. How cheap this nation is.
Kalla also reminded his cadres that the campaign was not only conducted by setting up many party's flags. The flag only functioned as an identity of the party.
The setting up of party's flags is important, but it should be followed up by social work to give emphaty.
"Give emphaty, help the community in order to get their symphaty," Kalla said.
