MERU BETIRI NATIONAL PARK HAS 537 SPECIES OF MEDICINAL PLANTS

Jember, East Java, Dec. 22 (ANTARA) - At least 537 species of medicinal plants grow at Meru Betiri National Park (TNMB) in East Java.

Meru Betiri was one of the country's national parks having rich biodiversity, both flora and fauna, TNMB Director Heri Subadiadi said here on Sunday.
"We have published a book describing medicinal plants found at TNMB," he said.
The local people have traditionally used the medicinal plants, which included Piper cubeba for diarrhea and asthma, Usnea misamiminensis for cough, and Crynum asiaticum L. used to cure rheumatic and intestinal worms.
