RI HOLDS IN-STORE PROMOTION IN HONG KONG

Beijing, Dec. 22 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian trade consul in Hong Kong held an in-store promotion in Hong Kong to boost the Indonesian exports.

"We will continue to hold an in-store promotion with the cooperation of Yue Hwa Department Store, and to participate in a number of trade exhibitions here," Haris Munandar, the Indonesian trade consul in Hong Kong, said in a statement on Sunday.

Indonesian products were displayed in Yue Hwa from November to December 2008. Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu attended the closing ceremony of the Indonesian products promotion in Yue Hwa, one of the largest department stores in Hong Kong, he said.

The country also took part in the annual World SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) Expo which was held in Hong Kong, from November 10-12, 2008.

Indonesia's products displayed in Hong Kong included jewelries, textiles, sport wears and equipment, bags, garments and leather products.
The value of Indonesian exports to Hong Kong was recorded at US$1.74 billion in 2004, and it increased to US$1.92 billion in 2005. The value remained at US$1.92 billion in 2006.

The export value rose to US$2.07 billion in 2007, and it was recorded at US$1.97 billion during the January-October 2008.

Indonesia's exports to Hong Kong include coal, data processing machines, textiles and textile products, palm oil, paper, shoes, plywood, rubber, processed food and furniture.
