Indonesia strengthens relations with Rumania and Moldova

Jakarta, June 21 (Antara) - Indonesia agrees with Rumania and Moldova to promote bilateral relations especially in economy, trade and investment. The foreign ministry said in a news release here on Sunday the agreements were reached in a series of bilateral consultations between the American and European affairs Directorate General of the Foreign Ministry and Ambassador Dian Triansyah Djani and his Rumanian counterpart Globalization Director General Ambassador Daniel Tanase and Deputy Foreign Minister and European Integration of Moldova, Tudor Ulianovschi. The meetings have been held in the capitals of the respective countries , Bucharest and Chisinau ( June 18-19). "We invited business leaders from the two Central European countries to take part in 'Trade Expo Indonesia' in October 2015 and utilize Indonesia as their entrance gate to other ASEAN countries," Ambassador Djani said. At the meetings Ambassador Djani asked for support for Indonesian candidacy in international bodies and permanent member of the United Nations Security Council 2019-2020, encouraging promotion of inter community relations and propose agreement on "consular notification" for citizen protection. Indonesia also asks for support from Rumania, which is a member of the European Union on issues related to Indonesian interest in the European Union -- visa free facility for Indonesians, implementation of certification of "Forest Law Enforcement and Trade" (FLEGT) and flight facility for Indonesian airlines to Europe. Ambassador Djani accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to Rumania Diar Nurbiantoro and the Director of PT Sritex held a series of economic meetings with Rumanian business leader . Indonesia is seeking to expand exports of textile and garments to Rumania and Moldova . Based on official data in 2014, economic and trade relations between Indonesia and Rumania and Moldova had increased in the past several years . Trade with Rumania in 2014 was valued at US$152.9 million , up 10.5 percent from 2013 and trade with Moldova rose 94.5 percent to US$16.5 million in the same period. Ambassador Djani signed a memorandum of understanding with his counterpart in Moldova on political bilateral consultation to strengthen and promote the bilateral relations. A similar agreement was already signed with Rumania in 2013.
