RP3 TRILLION ALLOCATED FOR E SUMATRA, NORTH JAVA HIGHWAYS

Jakarta, Dec 25 (ANTARA) - The Public Works Ministry has allocated Rp3 trillion in funds for the repair of damaged segments of highways in Sumatra (Jalintim) and in the northern coast of Java (Pantura), a public works official said.
"Actually, funds for the repair and maintenance of the two highways are normally made available through a multi-year package but in 2009 we have set a budget of Rp3 trillion," director for western regions of the Directorate General of Public Works at the Public Works Ministry, Hediyanto Huseini said here on Wednesday.
The funds, he said, will be used for road and bridge maintenance and upgrading in the Jalintim and Pantura.
He said that of the Rp3 trillion, about Rp1.1 trillion was designed for Pantura and Rp1.9 trillion for Jalintim.
For the maintenance of roads in the western regions, a fund of Rp5.3 trillion has been allocated for 2009.***2***
