RI-MALAYSIA EPG RECOMMENDS INTENSIFIED ECONOMIC AND TOURISM COOPERATION

Jakarta, Dec. 25 (ANTARA) - The Indonesia-Malaysia Eminent Persons Group (EPG) has recommended that the economic and tourism cooperation between the two countries be stepped up.
"The EPG recommends that the economic and tourism cooperation be intensified," Musni Umar, a spokesman of Indonesia's EPG said here on Wednesday, after the conclusion of the fourth meeting of EPG in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
He said the EPG meeting in Malaysia had issued a number of recommendations and proposals on joint activities in the fields of culture, economic, tourism, education, human resource development, media and immigration.
"The EPG also paid serious attention to the global economic crisis which has affected the two countries as it has caused a few lay-offs," he said.
The results of the fourth EPG meeting, which took place on December 22 and 23, 2008, would be reported to the heads of state of Indonesia and Malaysia.
"The detailed results (of the meeting) will be made public after being reported to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono," he said.
Since it was established in mid-2008, the EPG had organized several meetings to discuss a wide range of issues including manpower, immigration, education, media and politics.
