Ex-Malaysian PM lectures at Aden University
ADEN, Dec. 25 (Saba) – Former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir
Mohammed said in a lecture at the Aden University that improving
current banking systems and reorganizing them are very important to
avoid financial crises, such as the latest one affecting economies
worldwide.
Mohammed said governments must not allow banks to produce money from
nothing.
He brought up the current financial turmoil saying countries are
granted the opportunity to reconsider their financial policies to
restrict the repercussions of the global financial slump.
Mohammed highlighted policies of the Islamic banks protecting
capital investment, calling on Muslim investors to turn to
such banks to safeguard their investments.
At the end of the lecture, Mahathir Mohammed was honored by the
university as a Muslim prominent figure that could prove to the
whole world that Muslim nations can have efficient leaders, thinkers
and economists.
Mohammed was presented with the honorary doctorate in recognition of
his contributions to administrative, economic and political areas.
