FIRST LADY GIVES EDUCATION ASSISTANCE TO BUYAT SMART HOUSE

Manado, N Sulawesi, Dec 26 (ANTARA) - First Lady Ani Yudhoyono presented education assistance to a Buyat smart house on Minahasa district, North Sulawesi, on Friday.

The assistance was handed to Ratatotok Sustainable Development Foundation in front of North Sulawesi governor's wife Deetje Adeline Sarundajang and the wives of other provincial government officials.

On the occasion the first lady gave a set of child encyclopedia, four sewing machines, a set of computer, and a compact disc player to the Buyat smart house.

In addition, Deetje Adeline also received a smart car for North Sulawesi province from First Lady Ani Yudhoyono.

The first laddy accompanied President Yudhoyono in a two-day working visit in the province from Thursday to Friday.

On Thursday evening, President Yudhoyono and the first lady attended a Christmas party at North Sulawesi Governor's Guest House and called on the Christians in the province to develop and to nurture noble values in an effort to build the country into an excellent nation.

"I hope all Christians would build the country's noble values and civilization so that it would reinforce the nation's self-reliance and excellence," the president said.

He said that adopting an optimism attitude in life could become an asset for the country to develop itself into a self-reliant nation with excellent civilization.

On Friday morning, the president had a close look at the preparations for the World Ocean Conference to be held in Manado in May 2009, and then checked the preparation of tsunami simulation drill which was originally scheduled for Friday, December 2008, but because it was in conjunction with the second day of Christmas, the president then adjourned it to Saturday.

The president and the first lady were scheduled to leave Sam Ratulangi airport here at 10:30 on Friday morning for Jakarta and were expected to arrive at the State Palace at 1:40 in the afternoon.
