Saudi Press Agency introduces new web site
Riyadh, Dec 26, SPA -- The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) will receive
effective from the new Hegira year (1-1-1430 AH) its visitors on its
new web site (www.spa.gov.sa), which will be inaugurated on the first
of the lunar month of Muharram.
SPA's Acting Director General Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein expressed
appreciation for the support extended to SPA by Minister of Culture
and Information Iyad bin Ameen Madani, and highlighted his keenness
on the development of Saudi Press Agency.
Al-Hussein said the new web site has been designed in a manner that
makes the visitors or viewers capable of obtaining the required
information easily.
He noted that the site has been provided with information and
services that make it more dynamic and strong as regards the variety
of choices in addition the professional chaptering of the site.
Several services that concern the visitors of the site have been
added including the following:
- WAP service pertaining to mobile telephones which enable the
visitor through telephone to get acquainted with the service of the
agency through the specialized copy, and it is a free service.
- SMS service which enables the visitors to obtain the latest and the
most important reports immediately, and this service can be obtained
through a monthly subscription.
- RSS service which enables the users to obtain reports he desires
according to the classifications of SPA and through the internet on a
special page for this service, and it can be obtained from the site.
Al-Hussein noted that numerous services have been added to the
website including a summary of news in a moving manner in terms of
the last five news items transmitted by SPA, and another service on
the latest news transmitted on SPA's network as well as the latest
photographed news item transmitted on the news network.
Al-Hussein pointed out that some other services have also been added
to make the website more dynamic either in linking the news with the
photographs or classifications of the cabinet's current and previous
sessions as well as the Royal Decrees which were recently issued in
addition to a brief information about the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and
its regions including the Two Holy Mosques attached with their
photographs and the Holy Places as well as other services which
enable the user to get acquainted during his visit to the website.
