President Yudhoyono said if the tsunami drill was put into the school curriculum, the students were expected to know and understand in advance how to anticipate the threat of tsunami disaster.
Jointly organized by the Research and Technology Ministry and the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (MBG), the tsunami drill was originally scheduled for Friday in conjunction with the commemoration of the devastating tsunami in Aceh province on December 26, 2004.
