ENERGI MEGA SUFFERS RP71 BILLION IN LOSSES
Jakarta, Dec 26 (ANTARA) - PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk, Indonesia's second largest publicly-listed energy firm, suffered a net loss of Rp71.226 billion in the January-September 2008 period after posting Rp85.344 billion in net profit a year earlier.
The loss resulted from rising miscellaneous expenses and tax burden, according to the company's financial statement published on Friday.
Miscellaneous expenses in the first nine months of 2008 jumped 259.93 percent to Rp455.083 billion from Rp126.435 billion in the same period last year.
However, income in September 2008 rose 87.24 percent to Rp1.360 trillion from Rp726.425 billion in September 2007.
Energi Mega, a subsidiary of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk, produces 10,500 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and 60 million MMCFD of natural gas.
The company aims to raise its oil production to 12,000 bpd and its gas output to 80 MMSCFD this year.
