OTHER COMPANIES NOW ALLOWED TO SELL KEROSENE

Jakarta, Dec 26 (ANTARA) - The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) said companies such as Shell and Petronas besides state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina are allowed to sell kerosene.

According to BPH Migas member Agus Budi Hartono it was possible due to present low international price of kerosene.

"The prevailing regulation allows other companies to sell kerosene. If Shell or Petronas could sell it at 5,000 rupiah per litre or less, it is fine," he said.

However according to him those companies did not receive any subsidy such as Pertamina as the only appointed company to sell subsidized fuel.

He added that the companies would bear the risks if the world price increase again.

Meanwhile Shell Indonesia Ltd. Vice Director of Business Development Wally Saleh said that the company has not decided to sell kerosene 88 in 2009.

"We have not produced such kerosene at present but there is a possibility in 2010," he said.
