Russia not planning to host large-scale meeting of Syrian opposition - Lavrov

MOSCOW, August 11. /TASS/. Moscow has no plans to host a large-scale meeting of the Syrian opposition, but its separate representatives will come to Russia soon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday following talks with his Saudi counterpart Adel al-Jubeir. "We are not planning any large-scale meeting of the Syrian opposition, this information is not quite correct," Lavrov said. "We held meetings in February and in April, now we continue contacts on an individual basis." He confirmed that the leaders of some opposition groups were to come to Russia soon, including chairman of the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party Saleh Muslim. "These visits are not part of the general collective meeting," the minister said. Leader of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces Khaled al-Khoja has been invited as well.
