UAE to take part in launch of nuclear fuel bank in Kazakhstan on 27th August

ABU DHABI, 19th August, 2015 (WAM) – The UAE will take part in the official ceremony to launch the nuclear fuel bank in Kazakhstan on 27th August, in the presence of delegates of states, which support the project and representatives of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.
The Government of Kazakhstan will sign during the ceremony an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency on the establishment of the World Bank for low-enriched uranium "nuclear Bank".
It is scheduled that the first enriched cargo delivery to the Bank of low uranium will be within two years from the date of signing the agreement. Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano, will sign the agreement on behalf of the organisation.
The nuclear fuel bank is a proposed approach to provide countries access to enriched nuclear fuel without the need for them to possess enrichment technology. The basic concept is that countries which have enrichment technology would donate enriched fuel to a "bank", from which countries that do not possess the enrichment technology would obtain fuel for their power reactors. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395284457272.html
