Abdullah bin Zayed receives UN special envoy to Yemen

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, yesterday received Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the UN special envoy to Yemen, at the ministry's headquarters. The UN special envoy to Yemen offered his condolences to Sheikh Abdullah on the Emirati martyrs who died during the course of their national duty while participating in the Arab coalition's Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen. Sheikh Abdullah was briefed on the latest situation in Yemen and the UN efforts, backed by the legitimate leadership in Yemen. They also exchanged views on the current developments regionally and globally. During the meeting, they reviewed ways to boost humanitarian partnership and work to coordinate programmes, relief and developmental activities in the best interests of joint objectives and aspirations in the humanitarian field. Sheikh Abdullah underscored the directives of the wise leadership and its keen interest to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and support them in these circumstances. He also emphasised that the UAE will spare no effort to provide all possible support to deal with any repercussions of the current events in Yemen through the Saudi-led Arab coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen. On his part, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed said the UAE enjoys a prestigious reputation in the field of providing humanitarian aid. He also said the UAE's supportive stances towards the Yemeni people are part of the UAE legacy, put forth by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who supported the Yemenis. He added that the Yemeni people express their appreciation and gratitude for the UAE leadership for its continuous support to them.
