ACEH'S GOLKAR PARTY CONDEMNS ISRAELI AIR STRIKES

Banda Aceh, 30 (ANTARA) - The Aceh branch of the Golkar Party has strongly condemned the Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip that have killed more than 300 people in the Palestinian territory.

"The barbaric Israeli military actions have hurt the feelings of Muslims because more than 300 innocent civilians, children and women in Palestine have been killed," Sayed Fuad Zakaria, chairman of the Golkar Party's provincial Aceh banch, said here on Tuesday.

Zakaria made the statement to comment on Israel's continuing strikes on Palestinian territory to totally paralyze Hamas forces.

According to an AFP report from the Gaza City, Israeli warplanes pounded Gaza for the fourth day on Tuesday as tanks stood by to join the "all-out" war Israel vowed would wipe out Hamas while the Palestine death toll had risen to at least 360.

Israel made it clear Monday the offensive was just beginning, even as UN chief Ban Ki-moon urged world leaders to work urgently to end the "unacceptable" violence.

Therefore, Zakaria said, the Golkar Party would call on Arab countries to unite in halting the Israeli military aggression.

"Golkar will call on Arab countries to unite in bringing Israeli military aggression to an end," he said.

He also supported Libyan leader Muhammad Khadafi's statement that Israel's barbaric actions should not be ignored because they were a crime against humanity.
Zakaria said Israel had committed massive violations of international laws by attacking the sovereign country of Palestine, and therefore the United Nations was asked to immediately impose sanctions against Israel and to create peace in the Middle East.

"Without a resolute action from the UN and the participation of Arab countries, the Middle Eastern region will remain a war zone," said Zakaria who is also chairman of the Aceh Provincial Legislative Assembly (DPRD).

He also admired Indonesia's swift action in sending logistics and medical aid to the Palestinian victims of the Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip.

According to Zakaria, the Indonesian government had not only sent logistics and medical aid to Palestine but was also playing an active role in efforts to halt the Middle Eastern crisis.
