UAE and Slovenia sign agreement for economic cooperation

LJUBLJANA, 20th Sept., 2015 (WAM) – The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Slovenia have signed an agreement for economic and technical co-operation with the aim of boosting bilateral co-operation in vital sectors. The agreement provides for formation of a joint economic commission which will hold its first meeting in Abu Dhabi next year. The agreement was signed yesterday by the UAE Economy Minister, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, and the Slovenian Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Zdravko Pocivalsek. The agreement reflects the interest of the two countries in developing economic co-operation for mutual benefit. It calls for developing economic and technical collaboration in a number of sectors, including industry, infrastructure, media, innovation, technology development, transport, environment, investment, commodities trade, tourism services, education, human resources development, petrochemicals, petroleum engineering, financial services, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and agriculture. A joint economic commission had been created under the agreement which will be made up of representatives of government and business sectors of the two countries. Each party shall appoint a co-chair for the commission, the meetings for which will be held in rotation between the two countries. The agreement is effective for five years and will be renewed automatically for similar periods. Following the signing, Al Mansour said the agreement expresses the ministry's desire to expand the network of the UAE's economic and commercial partners in Europe, including Slovenia.
