ASIAN PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY URGES ISRAEL TO STOP ATTACKING PALESTINE

Jakarta, Dec 30 (ANTARA) - Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) members urge Israel to stop attacking Palestine and call on the international community to supprt efforts to put an end to the Israeli actions, APA President Agung Laksono said.

Speaking to reporters here Tuesday, Laskono urged Israel to stop its military actions in the Gaza Strip and to let humanitairan aid reach innocent civillians suffering the consequences of the Israeli actions there.

According to Laksono, APA was deeply concerned about the massive bombings and bloodshed in the Gaza Strip which had taken more than 300 lives and wounded as many as 1,000 Palestinians.

"The bombing has caused serious damage to the civilian infrastructures in the Gaza Strip as the surrounding area was left without water, sanitation and electricity," he said.

The APA president also called on the international community to use any possible ways to pressure Israel to stop its violence against Palestinianss and agree to a ceasefire.

"The different points of view of the conflicting parties in the Gaza Strip must be solved by dialogue or other peaceful means," Laksono added.
