QATARI INVESTOR INTERESTED IN PINEAPPLE CULTIVATION IN RIAU
Pekanbaru, Riau, Dec 30 (ANTARA) - A Qatari investor has expressed interest in setting up a pineapple plantation and a pineapple processing facility in Kampar district, Riau province, an official said.
"The Qatari investor has visited Kampar to survey the possibility of setting up a pineapple plantation business in the district," Zaistar Zain of Kampar's Promotion and Investment office, said here on Tuesday.
However, Kampar had limited land which could be used for the development of pineapple plantations , he said.
Kampar already had pineapple plantations run by locals but the Qatari investor wanted land for its own pineapple plantaton.
At present, Kampar only had about 800 hectares of land that could be developed into a pineapple plantation but most of it was owned by locals.
