Final communiqué of the 29th GCC summit issued 5 Muscat

The Supreme Council expressed concern over the increase of sea piracy
operations at international sea routes in the Gulf of Eden and the
Red Sea and which are carried out by irresponsible Somali elements.
The Supreme Council called for regional and international
coordination and cooperation to confront them with various ways
ensuring their elimination within the framework of United Nations
Security Council resolution number 1851 issued on 16 December 2008.

In the field of military affairs, the Supreme Council blessed what
has been achieved concerning the development of the joint Aljazirah
Shield forces and the GCC joint defense and directed that steps and
measures in this regard be completed.
